Deutsche Bank is expected to promote general counsel Richard Walker to its board, which is currently undergoing a major shake up.
According to The Lawyer, the move to promote Walker comes at a time when the bank is adding to its management ranks, likely to grow from 12 to 17 members.
Walker, who left the commission in 2001 to join the German banking giant, served as enforcement director at the SEC. In that position, he focused on internet securities fraud and cracked down on bogus company financial records.
The industry veteran worked at the SEC for 10 years. He started out as regional director then worked as general counsel from 1996-1998 before becoming director of enforcement.
In May Josef Ackermann, chief executive of Deutsche, will hand over to his successor Anshu Jain, who is responsible for the management reshuffle.
Before joining the SEC, Walker was a partner at Cadwalader, Wikersham & Taft.
