Doughnut icon wins small-cap governance team of the year and makes the shortlists in four other categories

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts was a finalist in five categories at Corporate Secretary’s fifth annual Corporate Governance Awards, held in New York on January 8 – more categories than any other company.

The well-known doughnut maker won governance team of the year (small cap) and received nominations for small-cap governance professional of the year for Darryl Marsch; best overall governance, compliance and ethics (small cap); most innovative CSR disclosure policy; and best use of technology by a corporate secretary or general counsel.

Marsch, Krispy Kreme’s associate general counsel, and Douglas Muir, chief financial officer and treasurer, attended the awards and declared themselves proud that the company’s efforts to improve its governance were recognized.

The judges acknowledged the governance rehab Krispy Kreme undertook to win back the confidence of investors and help boost revenues over two consecutive years after going through a restructuring.
