Insurance broker and consultant NFP has promoted two officials to fill top compliance posts. The company, which has offices in Canada, Puerto Rico and the UK, provides employee benefits, property and casualty, retirement and individual private client services.

Suzanne Spradley has been promoted to senior vice president and associate general counsel, assuming the role of chief compliance officer (CCO) as of December 1. She was previously senior vice president and senior counsel. In her new role, she is responsible for overseeing the compliance and regulatory aspects of NFP’s insurance and corporate governance initiatives.

During her nine years with the company, Spradley has led its strategic direction for insurance regulatory compliance, building and leading the benefits compliance team and centralized licensing department, according to an NFP statement.

In addition, the company has appointed Chase Cannon as vice president and deputy CCO of benefits compliance, also effective December 1. He was previously vice president and counsel.

During his six years with NFP, Cannon has provided strategic guidance to benefits advisers and their clients, the company states. In his new role, he is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the benefits compliance team and contributing to NFP’s compliance department and capabilities.

Both Spradley and Chase are based in Austin, Texas. A spokesperson for the company says the pair did not replace anyone, with NFP’s general counsel having previously handled the CCO role and Chase taking on additional responsibility. Many organizations are creating more specialized legal and compliance roles as they expand and deal with an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
