Rebecca House will take over as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Rockwell Automation, effective January 3, 2017.

She is at present assistant general counsel at Harley-Davidson, overseeing legal operations and company compliance, and is the assistant board secretary. Before her six years with the motorcycle company, she spent 12 years at law firm Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee, serving as partner for five years.

A spokesperson for Harley-Davidson was not immediately available for comment.

In her new role, House will report to president and CEO Blake Moret. She will succeed Douglas Hagerman, who is retiring. Hagerman will work with House on the transition before he leaves the company next month.

At Rockwell Automation, House will lead the company’s legal affairs and compliance, corporate secretarial function, contracts and negotiations, government affairs, environmental health and safety, information and physical security, global trade compliance and product safety teams.

‘Becky will build on Doug’s remarkable legacy as she assumes the general counsel role,’ Moret says in a statement. ‘She is an outstanding addition to the Rockwell Automation leadership team, in terms of both her functional leadership and her contribution to the evolution of our company.’

‘It’s been an honor and honor and a pleasure to serve at Rockwell Automation, a company that demonstrates every day the benefits of acting with integrity and corporate responsibility,’ Hagerman says in a statement. ‘Becky House is the ideal choice to join the leadership team and help guide this great company through its next successes.’

Rockwell Automation describes itself as the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and information. The Milwaukee-based firm employs roughly 22,000 people, serving customers in more than 80 countries, it says.

According to a company statement, House is a director and board president for Sojourner Family Peace Center, the largest provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin. A spokesperson for Rockwell Automation says her term as board president for the Center ends in early 2017, and that she will continue to serve as a board member.
