General counsel and secretary Kent Rose to retire at year-end

Todd Bloomquist will take over as senior vice president, general counsel, secretary and chief administrative officer of Beam Suntory on January 1, 2018, succeeding Kent Rose who is retiring at year-end after 30 years with the company.
Bloomquist currently serves as the company’s vice president, deputy general counsel and assistant secretary. He joined Beam Suntory as associate general counsel and assistant secretary following 12 years at Winston & Strawn.
Chicago-based Beam Suntory describes itself as the world’s third-largest premium spirits company. Its brands include Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Kakubin, Knob Creek, Teacher’s, Laphroaig and Courvoisier.
The company was created in 2014 through Suntory Holdings’ acquisition of US bourbon firm Beam, and is a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Japan. Rose joined predecessor company Fortune Brands in 1987 and assumed his present role in 2001. He previously worked for law firms Chadbourne & Parke and Day Berry & Howard.
