American International Group (AIG) has hired Rose Marie Glazer from Siemens to be the company’s new vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary.

Glazer, who joins AIG on March 8, will oversee the corporate securities, corporate secretary and M&A legal teams. She will report to Peter Solmssen, executive vice president and general counsel. She will succeed Jeffrey Welikson, who is retiring, according to AIG.

Glazer joins the insurance firm from Siemens, where she has served as general counsel for the Americas and corporate secretary since 2012. A Siemens spokesperson did not have an immediate comment on a replacement for Glazer.

‘Rose Marie is an experienced, strategic leader, and I am confident that with her oversight and expertise, we will continue to support AIG’s pursuits with the highest integrity,’ Solmssen says in a statement. ‘Her additional responsibility overseeing the M&A legal team will optimize alignment and development opportunities for our team members.

‘Jeff led a key team during some of the most challenging times in this company’s history, with great success. During our short period of overlap, I have come to respect and rely on not just his technical skills but also his good judgment. We all wish Jeff the best in his retirement.’

‘I look forward to bringing continuous, dedicated leadership to the corporate securities, corporate secretary and M&A legal teams,’ Glazer says.

She joined Siemens Corporation from Siemens Product Lifecycle Management Software after serving as general counsel and secretary since 2007 and associate general counsel and compliance officer since 2004. She was also interim cluster general counsel for Siemens Mesoamerica from 2009 to 2010. Before joining Siemens, she was general counsel and secretary at Telvista.

AIG member companies offer a range of property casualty insurance, life insurance, retirement products and other financial services to customers in more than 80 countries and jurisdictions, according to the firm.
