Scoular hires new general counsel

Megan Belcher joins privately held corporation next month

The Scoular Company has hired Megan Belcher as its new general counsel, effective June 1. She will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

In addition to her role as general counsel, Belcher will serve as a senior vice president responsible for leading Scoular’s legal and brand marketing and corporate communication functions. She will take up the role previously held by Joan Maclin, who has served as general counsel and senior vice president for the past 23 years and will retire in December, according to the company.

Belcher will join Scoular from Husch Blackwell where she was a partner in the law firm’s food and agribusiness industry team in its Kansas City office. Before working with Husch Blackwell, she spent nine years as a law department leader for ConAgra Foods, most recently as vice president and chief counsel for employment and compliance, according to Scoular.

A spokesperson for Husch Blackwell was not immediately available for comment.

Scoular operates more than 100 independent business units that offer supply chain services for end-users and suppliers of grain, feed ingredients and food ingredients globally. According to the firm, it has nearly $5 billion in sales and was last year ranked as the 64th largest privately held corporation in the US.

‘As a nationally recognized law department leader, Megan brings a seasoned in-house counsel view and deep industry experience to Scoular,’ says CEO Paul Maass in a statement.
