Glenmede hires new general counsel

Jordan Savitch joins privately held investment and wealth management firm

The Glenmede Trust Company has appointed Jordan Savitch as managing director, general counsel and director of business assurance, reporting to president, CEO and chief investment officer Gordon Fowler.

In his new role, Savitch oversees the company’s legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk-management operations and serves as a member of the company’s management committee. The position was formerly held by Jim Belanger, who has retired, a spokesperson said.

Philadelphia-based Glenmede, which has $34 billion in assets under management, is a privately held and independently owned investment and wealth management firm for high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, endowments, foundations and institutional clients. Its board comprises Fowler and 14 independent directors.

According to Glenmede, Savitch currently serves on the advisory board for the Rutgers Center for Law and Corporate Governance and as a mentor for Mentor Connect, a program jointly sponsored by Ben Franklin Technology Partners and the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies to provide guidance and support for local, early-stage enterprises.

Earlier in his career, Savitch served as senior vice president and general counsel at Penn National Gaming, overseeing the publicly traded company’s legal, regulatory and compliance functions.

‘Jordan’s appointment underscores Glenmede’s commitment to maintaining a strong culture of compliance and prudent risk management, and to building a management team that will continue to provide our clients with careful stewardship and thoughtful innovation,’ Fowler says in a statement.
