ANSYS appoints new general counsel

Janet Lee succeeds Sheila DiNardo, who has retired

Technology firm ANSYS has recruited Janet Lee as its new general counsel.

Lee, who started with the company on June 20, most recently served as general counsel at HERE Technologies, a mapping and location services provider spun off from Nokia in 2015, according to ANSYS. At HERE, she oversaw all legal and compliance activities and managed the firm’s patent portfolio. Before that, Lee worked at Nokia, AOL and Renaissance Capital Group and at law firms in the US and Russia.

A spokesperson for HERE did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Lee reports to CEO Ajei Gopal and succeeds Sheila DiNardo, who has retired, according to a spokesperson for ANSYS. The company, headquartered south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, creates software to support engineering simulation, which helps tackle design challenges when developing new products.

‘Janet has an outstanding pedigree and amazing experience both in the legal and general business fields,’ Gopal says in a statement. ‘Given her experience in the high-tech industry as well as her extensive background in international law, she will help ANSYS navigate our multiple roads to market, including partnerships and acquisitions.’
