SemGroup appoints new general counsel

Susan Lindberg joins from Eni’s US operations

SemGroup has appointed Susan Lindberg as the company’s new vice president and general counsel. She is a member of SemGroup’s executive management team and reports directly to president and CEO Carlin Conner.

Lindberg succeeds Candice Cheeseman, who had previously announced her retirement, according to the company.

Before moving to SemGroup, Lindberg served as general counsel and corporate secretary at Eni US Operating Co, which she joined in 2006. Before Eni, Lindberg was assistant general counsel at Duke Energy. She was previously with Enron, having joined the company as senior counsel for Enron Transportation Services and having later become a director of government affairs/

An Eni spokesperson did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

‘We are extremely pleased to welcome Susan to the SemGroup family,’ Conner says in a statement. ‘With her 25 years of experience in the energy business and expertise in, among other areas, corporate governance, complex transactions, energy regulation and shaping company strategy, we know Susan will make immediate and lasting contributions to SemGroup during this very exciting time for our company.’

Cheeseman, who has held the general counsel position at SemGroup since 2010, will remain with the company for a transitional period to smooth the transfer of leadership responsibilities, according to the firm.

‘We are happy for Candice and her family,’ Conner says. ‘We appreciate her countless contributions over the years. She has been a warrior in protecting SemGroup while being instrumental in the execution of our strategy.’

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based SemGroup is a publicly traded midstream service company in the energy industry. It offers services including purchasing, selling, processing, transporting and storing energy for end-users and consumers of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, refined products and asphalt.
