Cheddar hires new general counsel

Anjali Kumar previously worked at Warby Parker and Google

Cheddar, which describes itself as a post-cable network and broadcasts from the NYSE trading floor, has recruited Anjali Kumar as general counsel and chief people officer.

In her new role, Kumar reports to Cheddar president and COO Eric Harris and leads Cheddar’s legal, people operations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation & benefits and learning & development functions.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Anjali was formerly general counsel and head of social innovation at Warby Parker, prior to which she was senior counsel at Google NY, operating as a commercial and product attorney in areas including Google X, advertising technology and YouTube. She teaches at Columbia Business School.

A request for comment from Warby Parker was not returned immediately.

‘I am thrilled Anjali is joining us now to help maintain and further develop our people-focused company and culture that is guided by our core values of being direct, relentless, ethical, proactive and different,’ Harris says in a statement.

A Cheddar spokesperson did not respond immediately to a request for information regarding the firm’s previous general counsel.
