Sellas hires new general counsel and corporate secretary

Barbara Wood previously worked at Ophthotech Corporation

New York-based Sellas Life Sciences Group has recruited Barbara Wood as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, reporting to president and CEO Angelos Stergiou. It is a new position at the company.

Wood most recently served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary with Ophthotech Corporation, where she advised on commercial and collaborative agreements and transactions, securities laws compliance and key strategic and legal issues, according to Sellas.

Before joining Ophthotech in 2013, Wood served as senior vice president and general counsel at OSI Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Squadron Ellenoff, where she focused on M&A, biotechnology, licensing, securities and venture capital matters.
