CVR Energy hires new general counsel

Melissa Buhrig started work with the company this week

Sugar Land, Texas-based CVR Energy has hired Melissa Buhrig as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

Buhrig also now serves as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for the general partner of CVR Energy’s petroleum subsidiary, CVR Refining, and for the general partner of its nitrogen fertilizer subsidiary, CVR Partners. These appointments took effect on July 2.

In her new position, Buhrig leads all corporate legal functions and provides strategic legal counsel for CVR Energy and its subsidiaries.

She most recently served as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary for Delek US Holdings and the general partner of Delek Logistics Partners. Before joining Delek, she served as senior vice president for services and compliance officer for Western Refining and the general partner of Western Refining Logistics. She joined Western Refining in 2005.

CVR Energy is a diversified holding company primarily engaged in the petroleum refining and nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing industries through its holdings in the limited partnerships CVR Refining and CVR Partners.
