Maxim Group promotes co-general counsel

James Siegel becomes sole top lawyer at the firm

New York-based Maxim Group has promoted James Siegel, who has served as co-general counsel since 2008, to assume the role of sole general counsel.

Edward Rose, vice-chair of Maxim, has been co-general counsel of the investment-banking, securities and wealth-management firm, which he co-founded in 2002.

‘Having served alongside Jim as co-general counsel for the past 10 years, it became clear that Jim has earned, and will be extremely successful in, the role of general counsel,’ Rose says in a statement. ‘Jim has extensive experience working with all areas of the firm to maximize commercial and strategic opportunities. His legal expertise enhances our team and increases our depth as we enter a new period of growth for Maxim Group.’

He adds: ‘Jim has grown into the role of general counsel, and his promotion will allow me to focus on additional areas of the firm to strengthen the organization as a whole.’

According to the firm, Rose will lead the expansion of Maxim’s efforts in areas such as strategic planning and business development.

Michael Rabinowitz, chair and CEO of Maxim, says in a statement: ‘Ed’s decision to promote Jim is indicative of his confidence in Jim’s ability and a decision that I couldn’t endorse more.’
