New general counsel enters WWE ring

Brian Nurse was previously with Nestlé Waters North America

WWE has hired Brian Nurse as the wrestling company’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. He will report directly to WWE chair and CEO Vince McMahon.

Before joining WWE, Nurse was vice president, associate general counsel and secretary at Nestlé Waters North America, the North American beverage division of Nestlé. In that role, he oversaw a broad legal practice including litigation, sales and marketing, corporate affairs, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, joint venture deals and employment matters.

He was previously senior legal counsel at PepsiCo. During his time at the company, he was the lead in-house counsel for North American soft drink brands, the sports marketing department and product innovation. He began his career as an associate at the law firms of Cullen & Dykman and Blank Rome.

In his new role, Nurse will be responsible for overseeing WWE’s legal affairs and will be a principal legal adviser to McMahon, co-presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson and the company’s executive management team. He will oversee litigation, intellectual property, government relations, risk management, talent contracts and compliance.
