Robitaille coming aboard as next Bombardier general counsel

Former Stikeman Elliott partner joining in May from WSP

Steeve Robitaille is joining Canadian aircraft and train manufacturer Bombardier as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective May 1.

Robitaille has been serving as chief legal officer and executive vice president for M&A at WSP since 2017, and is acting corporate secretary. Before joining WSP, he was a senior partner with law firm Stikeman Elliott, where he practiced corporate law.

Robitaille will succeed Daniel Desjardins, who will continue to serve as a special adviser to Bombardier president and CEO Alain Bellemare and as chair of Bombardier Transportation’s board of directors.

Montreal-based Bombardier has production and engineering sites in 28 countries and operates in the business segments of aircraft, transportation, commercial aircraft and aerostructures and engineering services. Its shares are traded on Toronto Stock Exchange.

‘We are very excited to welcome Steeve to the Bombardier team,’ Bellemare says in a statement. ‘He is a proven leader with extensive experience in corporate governance, compliance, [M&A] and securities law. His deep legal expertise, business acumen and track record of collaboration make him an excellent addition to Bombardier’s senior leadership team as we continue to execute our growth strategy.

‘As we welcome Steeve to the Bombardier team, I’d like to again thank Daniel for his exceptional leadership while serving as Bombardier’s general counsel for more than 20 years. In his new role, Daniel will work closely with the Bombardier Transportation management team to accelerate key projects and strategic initiatives to ensure the rail segment’s long-term competitiveness and drive sustainable growth.’
