Encore Capital appoints risk chief

Doris Hektor previously served as head of compliance

Nasdaq-listed Encore Capital Group has named Doris Hektor managing vice president and chief risk officer for the specialty finance firm.

Hektor had previously served since November 2014 as vice president and chief compliance officer for the firm. That role entailed overseeing and managing risk and compliance and setting standards and implementing processes to ensure those systems operate effectively and efficiently.

In her new role, she is tasked with continued expansion of Encore’s global enterprise risk management framework, and will report to the board’s risk committee.

Requests for comment and further details were not returned.

Encore, which is based in San Diego, California, offers debt-recovery solutions and related services linked to a variety of financial assets. Encore purchases or services portfolios of receivables from major banks, credit unions and utilities via its worldwide subsidiaries.

Before joining Encore, Hektor worked at JPMorgan Chase, where she served as senior vice president and managing director of strategy and development for consumer and community banking compliance. She previously worked at American Express as global head of compliance for commercial cards.

‘Our company has made significant investments in risk management and compliance over the course of several years, and Doris has been integral in helping build those capabilities,’ says Encore president and CEO Ashish Masih in a statement. ‘Our relentless focus on this critical part of our business has become a competitive advantage, and Doris has the experience and strategic vision to help us continue our leadership in this area.’
