Dorman hires new general counsel

Joseph Braun was previously CLO and corporate secretary at Avantor

Colmar, Pennsylvania-based Dorman Products has hired Joseph Braun as senior vice president and general counsel, effective April 24.

Braun moved to Dorman from Avantor, where he was chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Avantor, which provides products and services to customers in the biopharmaceutical, healthcare, education and government sectors, recently filed with the SEC to go public.

Braun has held other positions during his career such as vice president for M&A at Tyco International. His experience centers on advising public companies on corporate governance matters, SEC reporting and M&A matters. He succeeds Thomas Knoblauch as Dorman’s general counsel, though Knoblauch will continue as corporate counsel with the firm until his retirement at the end of this year.

Dorman supplies replacement parts to the automotive and other transport markets. According to the company, it has more than 130,000 parts in its catalog.

‘I’m excited to welcome Joe to our leadership team,’ says Kevin Olsen, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement. ‘Joe’s background spans a broad spectrum of legal practice areas and he has extensive experience counseling publicly traded companies in all aspects of corporate and commercial law.

‘His strong business acumen will provide tremendous value as we continue to expand our leadership position in the passenger car and light, medium and heavy-duty truck aftermarkets that we serve. I’d like to thank Tom Knoblauch for his outstanding work as general counsel over the past 14 years.’
