Kendall Huber retires after 20 years with the insurance company

Dennis Kerrigan has joined The Hanover Insurance Group as executive vice president and general counsel, effective April 1. In his new role he is responsible for legal, regulatory and government affairs at the NYSE-listed company, in addition to compliance, state filings, securities and corporate governance issues.

Kerrigan previously spent more than a decade as general counsel for Zurich North America, where he led the company’s legal, compliance, government and industry affairs, security and regulatory affairs groups. As an attorney in private practice earlier in his career, he advised Fortune 500 companies on issues including trials, arbitrations, governmental investigations, regulatory proceedings and internal investigations.

Kerrigan succeeds J Kendall Huber, who retired recently after spending 20 years as general counsel for Worcester, Massachusetts-based The Hanover, which is the holding company for several property and casualty insurance companies.

‘Dennis is an experienced leader with an extensive background in both legal affairs and the property and casualty insurance business,’ says The Hanover’s president and CEO John Roche in a statement. ‘His deep knowledge of our industry and proven leadership abilities make him an excellent addition to our company. We are excited to welcome Dennis to our team.

‘On behalf of everyone at The Hanover, I want to thank Jay for his many years of outstanding service. Jay is a dynamic and trusted leader, thoughtful adviser and committed mentor. His mark can be seen in the many invaluable contributions he has made to our organization over the years. We are grateful for his stewardship and wish him all the best.’
