Sinclair hires company’s first CCO

Jeffrey Lewis previously worked at Pinnacle Propane

Nasdaq-listed Sinclair Broadcast Group has hired Jeffrey Lewis to fill the newly created position of chief compliance officer (CCO).

Lewis will supervise corporate compliance functions such as regulatory, code of conduct, competition and privacy. He will also be responsible for providing strategic guidance on the implementation of compliance with regulatory agency requirements. He reports directly to Sinclair president and CEO Chris Ripley.

Most recently, Lewis was general counsel and CCO with Pinnacle Propane. Before that he spent more than 15 years with AT&T, first as vice president for legal, general attorney and associate general counsel then later as senior vice president for compliance and chief accessibility officer, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Earlier in his career, Lewis was a private practice attorney focusing on corporate and technology law. He also served as an SEC enforcement attorney.

Hunt Valley, Maryland-based Sinclair owns, operates and/or provides services to 190 television stations in 88 markets.

‘With rapid digitization, globalization and shifts in regulations, compliance is more important now than it has ever been,’ Lewis says in a statement.

‘Throughout his career, Jeffrey has continuously developed strategies that solidified more secure and compliant organizational practices for numerous companies, large and small,’ Ripley says in announcing the appointment. ‘Jeffrey will be a valuable asset to the Sinclair team. Adding to our existing compliance guidelines, he will be a foothold in the strategy and supervision of applying topline compliance initiatives for Sinclair.’
