Cornerstone Building Brands hires general counsel

Alena Brenner was most recently deputy general counsel with Ryder System

NYSE-listed Cornerstone Building Brands has hired Alena Brenner as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective April 5.

Brenner now heads up the company’s legal, compliance and risk-management functions and reports directly to board chair and CEO James Metcalf.

Brenner was most recently vice president and deputy general counsel for transportation and logistics company Ryder System. Before that, she was director of commercial law and M&A at the New York headquarters of Anheuser-Busch InBev. She previously spent more than eight years at the New York City office of Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth) in the law firm’s global capital markets and M&A group.

Cary, North Carolina-based Cornerstone Building Brands describes itself as the largest manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America.

‘We are excited to have Alena join our Cornerstone Building Brands leadership team,’ Metcalf says in a statement. ‘Her customer-centric approach along with the desire to simplify the way we do business is aligned with our commitment to be a partner of choice, and her proven experience in mergers and acquisitions will be critical to support our long-term growth strategy.’
