Cisco hires Microsoft’s general counsel as CLO

Dev Stahlkopf starts with Cisco next month

Cisco has hired Dev Stahlkopf as executive vice president and chief legal officer, effective August 2.

Stahlkopf will join Cisco having most recently been general counsel and corporate secretary with Microsoft for more than three years. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has spent around 14 years at Microsoft, previously as vice president and deputy general counsel and before that associate general counsel after being an attorney/senior attorney in the employment law group.

Before going in-house at Microsoft, Stahlkopf spent several years as an attorney with law firm Perkins Coie.

Cisco chair and CEO Chuck Robbins says in a blog post announcing Stahlkopf’s recruitment: ‘Dev brings extensive experience to many key issues for Cisco, including global geopolitical matters, cross-border data issues, data privacy, intellectual property and immigration reform…

‘[S]he also understands and values the importance of culture and building great teams at scale. Throughout her career, she has successfully driven strategies to attract and retain top legal talent while fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion.’

Robbins describes Stahlkopf as ‘a strong advocate for diversity in the legal profession’ who sits on the board of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
