Advanced Energy hires new general counsel
Nasdaq-listed Advanced Energy has recruited Elizabeth Vonne as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective April 15. She will report to president and CEO Steve Kelley.
Vonne will join Advanced Energy from life sciences company Mesa Laboratories, where she has been vice president for legal, general counsel and secretary. Before her time with Mesa Laboratories, she was a partner at law firm Davis Graham & Stubbs and earlier in her career was an associate with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
Vonne will succeed Tom McGimpsey (pictured), who is retiring from the company on April 15. McGimpsey joined Advanced Energy in April 2009. Currently executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, he was also chief administrative officer from 2020 to 2021, interim CFO in 2018, corporate development (M&A) officer from 2011 to 2015 and the executive leading the company’s IT department from 2010 to 2013.
Before joining Advanced Energy, McGimpsey was vice president of operations for First Data Corporation and executive vice president of business development and chief legal officer at McDATA Corp. He has also been senior corporate attorney at US West, has worked at law firms in private practice and was a senior engineer for Software Technology/Harris.
Kelley says in a statement: ‘I am delighted to welcome Elizabeth to the executive management team. Her deep legal knowledge, international experience and technology industry expertise are a great fit for Advanced Energy. The company and its board of directors sincerely thank Tom for his more than 13 years of dedicated and committed service to [Advanced Energy] and wish him well in his retirement.’
