Catalent hires general counsel and compliance chief

Joseph Ferraro was previously chief legal officer and secretary at Innovate Corp

NYSE-listed healthcare company Catalent has recruited Joseph Ferraro as senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer (CCO) and corporate secretary.

Ferraro is based at the S&P 500 company’s headquarters in Somerset, New Jersey, and reports to Catalent’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer Steven Fasman.

Ferraro most recently was chief legal officer (CLO) and secretary at Innovate Corp, a diversified holding company with a portfolio of subsidiaries in life sciences, infrastructure, broadcasting, insurance, marine services, energy, telecommunications and other industries.

His work included governmental affairs and regulatory and legal compliance, corporate governance domestic and cross-border M&A deals, corporate finance and capital markets transactions, SEC filings, litigation and risk management.

Before joining Innovate, Ferraro was general counsel and deputy CCO at Prospect Capital. In that role, his work included advising a multi-billion-dollar business development company (BDC) and other Prospect-related entities on regulatory and compliance issues and giving congressional testimony in support of BDC modernization legislation.

Earlier in his career, Ferraro was an attorney at law firms Sullivan & Cromwell and Boies Schiller & Flexner, where his practice centered on corporate and securities law.

Fasman says in a statement: ‘Joe has extensive experience as a [CLO] at public companies, which will be important as Catalent continues to grow in the highly regulated environments in which it operates. The entire executive leadership and I look forward to working with Joe.’
