Vuori hires first general counsel

‘Unicorn’ company also hires other executives

Activewear brand Vuori has hired Libby Stockstill as the company’s first general counsel and corporate secretary.

In her new role, Stockstill will establish and lead Vuori’s legal department, building the team from scratch to support the company as it develops. She was previously vice president and global general counsel at Vans, where she was responsible for developing the brand’s global legal function and serving as a senior leader of VF Corporation.

Before joining Vans she was general counsel for North America at Billabong and its portfolio of brands. Prior to that, she was a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins, where she represented public and private companies on governance, M&A and securities matters.

Vuori was established in 2015 by founder and CEO Joe Kudla. It describes itself as ‘unicorn status’, having received in October 2021 a $400 mn investment from SoftBank Vision Fund 2, which Vuori says valued the brand at $4 bn.

The company has also hired other members of its leadership team: Hugh Garrity as COO, Jen Frisch as chief people officer and Bryan Muehlberger as chief information officer.

All of the newly appointed executives report to Kudla, who says in a statement: ‘We are excited to announce the hire of these executives as we continue to expand the Vuori brand and support our global growth. Libby, Hugh, Jen and Bryan will be an integral part of our senior leadership team going forward. These executives have impressive backgrounds, combined with a unique passion for what they do that will contribute greatly to Vuori’s vision for the future.’
