Ensco's Dan Rabun discusses efforts to update the governance program as the offshore drilling services firm's business model became more globally focused

It wasn't only Ensco's decision last year to separate the CEO and chairman roles that helped it take home the Corporate Governance Award for Best Overall Corporate Governance - International ) in 2014. But the move demonstrated that the three-year evaluation and upgrade of its governance policies and practices were not mere window-dressing. Among the other chanes that resulted from the process were establishing a strong board succession procedures, with one of the aims being to appoint more women to the board, and encouraging engagement between shareholders and independent directors
