Janet Link was previously general counsel at JC Penney
Stanley Black & Decker has appointed Janet Link as its new senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
She succeeds Bruce Beatt, who is retiring after 17 years with the company and nearly 40 years in the legal field. Link's appointment was effective late last month and Beatt will remain with the company for a transition period through April 2018.
Link was previously general counsel with JC Penney. A JC Penney spokesperson says in a statement regarding Link: ‘We thank her for her meaningful contributions to the company, and wish her well in future endeavors. Until a replacement is announced, Brandy Treadway, associate general counsel, is assuming the position of interim general counsel.’
Earlier in her career, Link held deputy general counsel positions at Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings and CC Media Holdings, which is now known as iHeartMedia, according to Stanley Black & Decker. She was also a partner at Latham & Watkins.
‘The Stanley Black & Decker team is appreciative of Bruce's tireless devotion to the company's success, and we wish him much enjoyment in his retirement,’ president and CEO Jim Loree says in a statement. ‘We are thrilled that Janet is joining our team. Her seasoned legal background and expertise in the retail industry will be of significant value to our organization. In addition, we are confident Janet will continue stewarding the company's focus on integrity in all our interactions, helping to ensure we maintain high standards of ethical conduct as we pursue our growth goals.’
