ServiceMaster recruits new general counsel

Michael Bisignano was previously with CA Technologies

Memphis, Tennessee-based ServiceMaster Global Holdings has recruited Michael Bisignano as senior vice president and general counsel.

Bisignano joined ServiceMaster on October 25, filling a post that had been held internally on an interim basis for some time, according to a spokesperson.

He joined from CA Technologies, where he served as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. In that role, he managed a global team that oversaw domestic and international M&A transactions, administered an intellectual property portfolio of more than 1,200 patents, implemented a global data privacy and security program, and successfully resolved several litigations.

Before joining CA, Bisignano was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Blackboard. Prior to Blackboard, he worked for Online Resources Corporation and Arbros Communications, and served as of counsel at law firm Mintz Levin, focused on outsourcing and other technology transactions.

‘Michael is a dynamic and engaging general counsel with international experience at the highest levels,’ ServiceMaster CEO Nik Varty says in a statement. ‘I’m thrilled to have a leader like him on board to continue driving transformation and excellence across our business.’

ServiceMaster provides residential and commercial services through brands such as American Home Shield, which offers home service plans, AmeriSpec (home inspections), Furniture Medic (cabinet and furniture repair), Merry Maids (residential cleaning), ServiceMaster Clean (janitorial) and Terminix (termite and pest control).

The company recently hired Jeffrey Fiarman as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of American Home Shield in preparation for the spin-off of the business. That transaction closed on October 1, and American Home Shield is now part of the new created parent company Frontdoor.
