Petco hires new legal head

Genevieve Kelly was previously with Dole Food Company

Petco has recruited Genevieve Kelly as the company’s new chief legal officer and corporate secretary. In her new role, she oversees all legal, corporate governance and regulatory affairs for Petco.

Kelly previously served as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for Dole Food Company, where she spent 14 years. Earlier in her career, she worked as a corporate attorney for law firms Sidley Austin and McDermott Will & Emery, and as legal counsel for Occidental Petroleum, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Houlihan Lokey.

Alan Tse was general counsel, corporate secretary and an executive committee member at Petco until earlier this year. He became global general counsel and corporate secretary for JLL, with responsibility for the company’s legal and compliance functions, in June.

Kelly will be based at Petco’s national support center in San Diego. The company operates more than 1,500 retail locations and has 26,000 employees across the US, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
