ClearDATA hires first general counsel

Healthcare company expands compliance capabilities

Healthcare information technology company ClearDATA has appointed Thomas McKeever as general counsel and chief legal officer and has named Suhas Kelkar as chief product officer.

Both are new positions, which have been created as ClearDATA expands its global compliance capabilities and increases its focus on innovation, according to the company.

Before joining ClearDATA, McKeever worked in Silicon Valley for almost a decade as general counsel and senior vice president for corporate development at Actuate Corporation before managing its sale to OpenText. He also served as acting general counsel for e-commerce company Shutterfly, as well as for Accela, where he created, managed and trained on policy, procedure and compliance including creating a government relations compliance program.

Earlier in his career McKeever worked at law firms Wilson Sonsini and Heller Ehrman, as well as at Sun Microsystems. He has relocated to ClearDATA’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.

‘Bringing healthcare to the public cloud with appropriate compliance, privacy and security is a serious challenge and one well worth investing time and resources to do,’ he says in a statement.

‘We are very pleased to have Suhas and Tom join our executive leadership team and are confident their respective expertise will be important assets for ClearDATA,’ says CEO Darin Brannan. ‘Suhas’ commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation coupled with Tom’s technology and compliance-specific legal experience make their insight valuable to our growth strategy.’

Kelkar was previously vice president in the chief technology officer office at BMC.
