Shockwave Medical hires first general counsel

Company went public earlier this year

Hajime Tada has joined Nasdaq-listed Shockwave Medical as general counsel.

Tada is the company’s first general counsel and reports to Doug Godshall, Shockwave Medical president and CEO, according to a spokesperson. Santa Clara, California-based Shockwave Medical launched its IPO in March this year. It is focused on developing products designed to change how calcified cardiovascular disease is treated.

Tada was most recently general counsel and corporate secretary at LakePharma, a contract research organization. Before joining LakePharma in 2017, he worked for 16 years with Agilent Technologies, moving from the position of corporate counsel to director of litigation, vice president and deputy general counsel and then general counsel.

During this time, he worked with the company on a range of matters such as corporate governance, acquisitions and divestitures, compliance, sales support, regulatory, intellectual property strategy and litigation.

‘We are pleased to welcome Haj as our new general counsel,’ Godshall says in a statement. ‘His extensive experience across the spectrum of legal specialties makes him an exceptional addition to the team that will enable us to work more effectively and augment our growth trajectory.’
