Zurich North America appoints new CLO from in-house

Laura Lazarczyk succeeds Dennis Kerrigan, who left the company earlier this year

Zurich North America has promoted Laura Lazarczyk to become its new permanent chief legal officer (CLO), general counsel and corporate secretary. She reports directly to group general counsel Yannick Hausmann.

Lazarczyk succeeds Dennis Kerrigan, who left the company earlier in 2019. She previously served as associate general counsel and has been acting North America CLO since Kerrigan’s departure.

Lazarczyk has been an assistant and an associate general counsel since she joined Zurich North America in 2009. During that time, she has been a member of the insurance company’s North America leadership team and a managing attorney advising on enterprise-related legal and regulatory matters and collaborating with Zurich’s global legal organization on matters including corporate governance, data protection and data security, global and regional commercial transactions, corporate investigations and HR.

Before joining the company, Lazarczyk was chief compliance officer, assistant general counsel and head of HR at Rewards Network. She has also worked in private legal practice.

As CLO, she now leads the firm’s North American corporate law, corporate investigations and security services, government and industry affairs and regulatory services teams. She also provides strategic advice, counsel and support to the Zurich North America CEO regarding the main company’s strategy in the region.

According to the company, Lazarczyk has also been elected to the board of directors of the US Chamber Institute for Legal Reform and has joined the American Property Casualty Insurance Association’s legal and government affairs committee as part of her new role.

‘Our ability to fill this position with someone from within our Zurich family is something to celebrate,’ says Zurich North America CEO Kathleen Savio in a statement. ‘Laura has provided legal counsel and guidance to so many areas of our business over the last 10 years. She is a highly regarded member of our team already and I look forward to her continued leadership, advice and advocacy as we go forward.’
