New York Life picks new CCO

Barbara McInerney will retire from the insurance company at the end of the year

New York Life is promoting senior vice president Sara Badler to become chief compliance officer (CCO) of the company, effective January 1.

At present, Badler is in charge of all compliance functions for New York Life Investments, having previously served as chief investment counsel for New York Life. She will succeed Barbara McInerney as CCO. She will retire at the end of the year after more than two decades with the company.

In her new role, Badler will be responsible for overseeing and managing regulatory compliance across all of New York Life’s businesses. She will report to executive vice president, chief legal officer, and general counsel Sheila Davidson.

‘Sara has done a tremendous job on behalf of New York Life Investments and New York Life will continue to benefit from her sound judgment and ability to identify and resolve complex issues in a dynamic environment,’ Davidson says in a statement. ‘I am confident that she will further New York Life’s ability to successfully navigate the ever-changing business and regulatory landscapes.’
