ONEOK general counsel to retire later this year

Stephen Allen has been with the company since 2006

Stephen Allen, senior vice president, general counsel and assistant secretary with ONEOK, will retire in mid-August 2023 having spent more than 17 years with the company.

According to ONEOK, Allen is leaving the company to join GuideStone, a faith-based financial services organization. He will remain a ONEOK employee until the middle of August as the company seeks his successor, and will remain available to the firm and its management team on aspects of the recently announced acquisition of Magellan Midstream Partners.

In addition to his legal and governance roles, Allen is responsible for information technology, cyber-security and physical security activities at ONEOK. He joined the company in 2006 and during his tenure was previously vice president and associate general counsel.

Before working at ONEOK, Allen was a shareholder at Tulsa law firm GableGotwals. In May 2015, Governor Mary Fallin appointed Allen vice chair of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board for a term expiring in 2021.

ONEOK is a midstream service provider and owner of natural gas liquids (NGL) systems connecting NGL supply in the Rocky Mountain, Mid-Continent and Permian regions with important market centers.

Pierce Norton, president and CEO of ONEOK, says in a statement: ‘Stephen’s important contributions will leave a lasting impression on [the company] and, on behalf of the board of directors and the senior management team, I would like to thank him for his service and counsel through the years.

‘Having known Stephen for almost 20 years, his decision to retire and dedicate himself to work for a ministry organization does not surprise me. We wish him the absolute best as he pursues this new calling.’

Allen says in announcing the move: ‘It was an honor and privilege to work for ONEOK for all these years. I have incredible respect for the senior management team that continues to lead with vision and integrity and for the employees who work hard to bring vital energy products to improve lives each and every day.’
