ERIE promotes corporate secretary to general counsel

Brian Bolash joined the company in 2000

Nasdaq-listed Erie Indemnity Company (ERIE) has promoted Brian Bolash to become senior vice president and general counsel for the company and the affiliated companies of the Erie Insurance Group, effective October 24.

The appointment follows the retirement of Sean McLaughlin as ERIE’s general counsel in December 2018.

In his new role, Bolash will be chief legal officer, overseeing the company’s law division, internal audit and corporate legal department. In addition to those responsibilities, he will continue to serve as ERIE’s corporate secretary and will join the company’s executive council. He currently serves as vice president, corporate secretary and senior counsel.

Bolash joined the company in 2000 as associate general counsel and later took on additional responsibilities as assistant corporate secretary. During his time with ERIE, he has managed the corporate legal department and been responsible for corporate and business transactions and ERIE’s compliance with securities laws, stock exchange listing standards and state insurance laws and regulations.

Before joining the company, Bolash worked in private practice for a decade, starting his career with law firm MacDonald Illig Jones & Britton in Erie, Pennsylvania.

ERIE is a Fortune 500 company providing sales, underwriting and administrative services to Erie Insurance Exchange, a reciprocal insurance exchange.
