Clothing company Express hires legal chief

Laurel Krueger was previously general counsel and corporate secretary at clothing company Kontoor Brands

Columbus, Ohio-based fashion retailer Express has hired Laurel Krueger as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Krueger was most recently executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at clothing company Kontoor Brands, a role she took up in January 2019. Kontoor was spun off from VF Corporation in May 2019.

Before her time with Kontoor, Krueger spent almost seven years at Signet Jewelers in a variety of roles including vice president and general counsel, senior vice president for legal, ethics and compliance (general counsel), general counsel and executive vice president for compliance, risk and loss prevention and most recently executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Before Signet Jewelers, she also spent time as associate general counsel with Federal-Mogul and associate general counsel with Atlas Oil Company, among other roles. According to her profile, she started her legal career as an associate with Paul Hastings.

Express says in a statement issued via LinkedIn: ‘We are very pleased to announce that Laurel Krueger has joined Express as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Laurel brings rich experience in litigation, regulatory, international, intellectual property and employment areas, and we look forward to having her on our executive leadership team and as part of the Express family.’
