Dec 14, 2022
Company gains five nominations and four prizes

At the Corporate Governance Awards 2022, Corporate Secretary spoke to Ki Hoon Kim, associate general counsel at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

The multinational IT company headquartered in Spring, Texas was the frontrunner for the Corporate Governance Awards after picking up five nominations.

It won best AGM, best ESG reporting (small to mid-cap), best shareholder engagement (small to mid-cap) and best use of technology. It was also nominated for governance team of the year (small to mid-cap).

Commenting on the success of the company’s governance, Kim said for Hewlett Packard is all about good internal communication.

‘We work closely with internal stakeholders to make sure we are all aligned with what the priorities are [for the company], what the leadership needs to know and making sure that we inform the board of everything [it needs],’ he said. ‘Messaging and prioritization at the top trickle down throughout the entire organization.’

Offering advice to companies facing the challenges of market upheaval and regulatory changes, Kim noted that ‘educating the board’ is paramount.

‘A lot of professionals and staff members are still learning what [regulatory changes] mean for our respective companies,’ he said. ‘The most important thing is educating the board – not just a one-off dialogue.’
