Timesaver's guide to the Shareholder Services Conference
The Shareholder Services Association (SSA) will hold its 2013 Annual Conference at the Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, on July 16-19. Shareholder services industry executives attending the conference will enjoy the luxurious amenities at the Stowe Mountain Resort that include an excellent golf course, state-of–the-art spa and lush, green mountain trails with unmatched natural beauty.
These pleasant added extras provide a strong incentive for the more than 200 expected attendees who will attentively listen as SSA president Karen Danielson kicks off the conference on Wednesday, with her welcoming address on the current state of the shareholder services industry.
Conference master of ceremonies Maritza Vicole has put together an excellent slate of panel discussions that includes the hottest topics in the industry and should appeal to executives from all levels of industry experience. On Wednesday, attendees can get up to speed on a range of industry regulation with ‘Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act Update’, ‘Unclaimed Property’, an update on SEC Rule 17-ad-17, and an update on all the regulatory changes affecting the shareholder services industry over the last year.
Thursday features panels on compliance and risk and how they are affecting the industry, and an update on the major developments during the current proxy season. The conference ends on Friday with a roundtable discussion that will feature a number of shareholder services industry veterans, sharing the knowledge and insight they’ve gleaned during their careers.
As always, the SSA conference offers excellent opportunities to network with shareholder services professionals in one of the most picturesque settings in the country. Starting with the opening reception on Tuesday evening, there will be plenty of time to engage others in your field.
On Wednesday, take time out to meet up with your colleagues at the ‘Ice Cream Social’ with the conference exhibitors, learning more about the conference sponsors in the process. Later, relax at the poolside reception that starts early evening and extends into a northern barbecue and pig roast, with live music and games that will continue late into the night.
Thursday features the ‘First Timers Luncheon’ where those who have never been to the conference before get an opportunity to meet and network with industry veterans. The evening reception will take place on the resort terrace and then everyone will be encouraged to attend the SSA Awards Dinner, where the top players in the industry will be honored. Make sure you attend the ceremony to network with the best in the business.
As the SSA conference is the only one that focuses solely on the shareholder services industry, it is the one event industry veterans never miss. Don’t miss this chance to gain insight into industry matters, enhance your reputation among your peers and network for business and career opportunities.
