Huntington National Bank hires ex-BofA official as general counsel

Marcy Hingst will succeed Jana Litsey, who is due to retire

The Huntington National Bank has hired Marcy Hingst as its next general counsel.

Hingst was most recently at Bank of America (BofA) where, according to her LinkedIn profile, she spent more than 16 years. Most recently she was the global financial crimes executive, Bank Secrecy Act officer and chief risk officer (CRO) for the global wealth and investment management lines of business. Before taking on that role, she was BofA’s CRO for its consumer and small business banking divisions and, before that, she was deputy general counsel for those lines of business.

She previously held the position of associate general counsel, leading a global team of lawyers responsible for managing significant and class-action litigation concerning the consumer banking and wealth management lines of business. Before moving in-house, she worked at law firm O’Melveny & Myers, where she focused on securities and antitrust litigation matters.

Hingst will succeed Jana Litsey, who is due to retire from Huntington at the end of 2023 after six years at the bank. Like Hingst, Litsey previously worked at BofA. Over a 20-year tenure she held several leadership roles, most recently as the legal executive responsible for the defense of BofA’s domestic and international litigation, regulatory inquiries, enforcement actions and internal investigations.

Previously, Litsey was general counsel for legacy asset servicing, the unit responsible for managing legal risks arising from mortgage loan originations, securitizations and default servicing. Before that, she served as the deputy general counsel for executive compensation and benefits, human resources, intellectual property, technology and operations, vendor management and corporate workplace matters.

‘I applaud Jana on a distinguished career and, on behalf of the entire board of directors, thank her for the significant impact she’s made for Huntington’s customers, colleagues and communities. I will personally miss her guidance and insights as well as her friendship.’

Litsey says in an announcement: ‘I have worked with Marcy for a number of years and know her to be a talented lawyer and pragmatic adviser. Her broad experience across legal and risk, her management and leadership experience and sound judgment have positioned her to be an excellent general counsel.’
