BWX Technologies picks successor general counsel

BWX Technologies (BWXT) earlier this month promoted Ronald Whitford to become senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary. He succeeds Thomas McCabe, who will be special adviser to the company’s CEO until his retirement on August 1.

Whitford joined BWXT in 2017 and most recently was vice president, deputy general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. In his new role, he is responsible for BWXT’s legal, ethics and compliance functions.

According to his LinkedIn profile, before joining BWXT Whitford was group vice president, associate general counsel and assistant secretary at enterprise software support company Rimini Street. Before that, he was associate general counsel and assistant secretary at Lorillard Tobacco Company.

Earlier in his career, Whitford was vice president and assistant secretary at PHH Corporation and general counsel and corporate secretary at the Tasty Baking Company.

McCabe’s LinkedIn profile states that before joining BWXT in 2018 he held in-house legal roles including executive vice president, general counsel and secretary at Orbital ATK, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at Alion Science and Technology and vice president & deputy general counsel with SiriusXM Radio.

Rex Geveden, president and CEO, says in a statement: ‘As a part of our succession planning process, we are extremely fortunate to have someone of [Ronald’s] caliber and experience fully ready to take on this crucial position for BWXT. We wish Tom McCabe, our outgoing general counsel, all the best in retirement and appreciate him staying with us in an advisory capacity through July 2023.’
