Chewy general counsel to leave company

Susan Helfrick, general counsel and corporate secretary of Chewy, has notified the company of her decision to retire from her position, effective June 20, 2023, according to a regulatory filing.

Helfrick joined the pet products firm in December 2014 as general counsel. According to her LinkedIn profile she previously spent more than five years as general counsel for the Americas and executive vice president at GfK.

Before that she was assistant general counsel and vice president at Goldman Sachs, where her work included structured and negotiated complex capital markets transactions and distressed debt facilities and commercial and asset-backed securitizations. She had previously been managing director and associate general counsel with HSBC Securities, where among other things she provided regulatory advice on matters related to the Investment Advisors Act, Investment Company Act, Securities Act, Securities Exchange Act and Bank Holding Company Act.

Earlier in her career, Helfrick was a director at UBS, where her work included managing legal matters associated with mortgage/collateralized debt obligations group services and products and taking part in various risk management committees.

She was previously an associate with law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and a staff attorney at the SEC.

Requests for comment from Chewy and Helfrick were not returned immediately.
