Jessica Norman most recently was chief legal officer of Independence Realty Trust

NYSE-listed Tanger Outlets has recruited Jessica Norman as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.

In her new role, Norman heads up Tanger’s legal organization, which includes its corporate governance and compliance teams. She reports to president and CEO Stephen Yalof.

Norman most recently was chief legal officer of Independence Realty Trust (IRT), a publicly traded real estate investment trust that owns and operates multi-family apartment properties. Before joining IRT in 2016 in connection with the company’s internalization process, she spent two years as managing director and corporate counsel for IRT’s external adviser, RAIT Financial Trust.

According to her LinkedIn profile, before moving in-house Norman was an attorney at law firms Drinker Biddle & Reath, Klehr Harrison and Dechert. Since 2021, she has also been co-chair of the nominating and governance committee for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia region.

Tanger is an operator of open-air shopping centers.

Yalof says in a statement: ‘We are very pleased to welcome Jessica to the Tanger executive team and legal group. [She] has a wide range of public company experience in the real estate industry across multiple legal functions, from securities filings and corporate governance to transaction financing, M&A and regulatory compliance.
